Black Lives Matter

Music is Art believes that Black Lives Matter, however words alone are insufficient. We are taking the time to listen, understand, and learn from the Black community and have developed a plan that we outlined below to become a more equitable organization.

We recognize the need to look inward and pinpoint areas we can be better. This begins with a commitment to recruiting board and committee members who better reflect the community we serve and instituting an equity committee that will focus on steps we will take to become a more diverse organization.

We also commit to elevating Black voices in our creative community and creating equitable spaces where people feel comfortable sharing their art. We simply could not call on our community to change if we did not hold ourselves to the same standard.

Now is the time for all of us to take action.

We will encourage everyone to listen to the Black community and trust what they say. Listen to the music, experience the art, and elevate their talents whenever possible.

We will support our allies in the Black community. We will offer opportunities to Black artists to showcase their work. We will promote their music and art and encourage others to do the same.

We will use our voice. We will join in peaceful protests, and advocate for what we believe. We will encourage everyone to vote.

Music is Art is committed to promoting equity within our organization and throughout our entire community because Black Lives Matter.

We see you. We hear you. We stand with you.

"The thoughtfulness and commitment that Music is Art demonstrates to its friends and supporters is never ending. Robby, Tracy Fletcher, Phil Aguglia and the rest of the board simply never cease to amaze us. My family shared our children's most memorable musical and charitable moments with you folks and in return we've been rewarded with lifelong friendships that will never be forgotten. Every piece of mail, every Facebook post and every visit registers among the best of times for the Kalnitz family. We love you guys."
