Battle
The Music is Art Battle is one of our longest running programs. Having taken on several different formats over the years, the one constant is the showcase of youth here in Buffalo and Western New York. With prizes ranging from recording studio time, to professional photo shoots and a main stage performance at our festival we encourage and support young artists in Buffalo any way we can.
In 2015, after the tragic death of our beloved Board Chair, Ryan Casullo, the winning act’s name is now placed on our cherished “Casullo Cup” for prosperity. Ryan’s love for this program was contagious and he was an avid supporter of the younger bands here in WNY.
The Battle, an Under 21 event, is now held during our Festival at the beginning of the day. Several judges will deliberate based on a set rubric and feedback from the judges will be provided. The winning act gets a later slot on the Terminal B Stage and recording time at GCR Audio.

Q: What are the criteria for joining the Battle?
A: The majority of the band members must be under 21.
Q: Is the Battle open to any genre?
A: Yes, any genre of music and any size of band from solo, to duo, to full bands may apply.
Q: What does the Battle winner get?
A: A main stage performance spot later that day, along with recording time at GCR Audio, and mixing and mastering of one song.
