Students who are involved in music programs during middle school and high school score considerably higher on standardized tests than their non-band peers. According to university studies in Georgia and Texas, there is a significant relationship between the number of years of music instruction and the students academic achievement in language arts, science and math.

Fact 2
According to a study done at McGill University, self-esteem, musical skill measures, pattern recognition and mental representation scores improved extensively for students under piano instruction.

Fact 3
A higher percentage of students achieved As, As/Bs and Bs a larger number of academic honors and awards were presented to participants in music programs than non-music students.

Fact 4
SATs scores in both math and verbal were higher for high school music students. In 2001, students with coursework/experience in music performance scored 57 points higher on the math section and 41 points higher on the verbal section compared to students who were not involved in music areas.
